Founded in the eighty’s decade, VianaGRÉS is a family owned company, with more than 30 years of stoneware production knowledge completed with cutting-edge technology adapted to today’s market demands, with mass production or custom-made items.

The new vision of VianaGRÉS will keep the line that has always been denominated MOSTARDA, unique in the world, for having as raw material a stone that only exists here in the region of Viana do Castelo and that gives it a very own texture and pigmentation.

Stoneware was discovered more than 2300 years ago in China, and is a sedimentary rock that is the result of the breakdown of various rocks and minerals, composed essentially of quartz and feldspar. At European level, Stoneware began to be used in Germany at the end of sec. XIV, having been produced and marketed on a large scale throughout Europe.

Internationally, stoneware is increasingly fashionable, gaining ground on its relatives, namely porcelain.
